Senior Program Assistant

We’re hiring a Senior Program Assistant to oversee, develop and expand engaging educational programs that connect AZMNH with the community.

This role focuses on bringing mobile programs with our MEAD (Mobile Exploration and Discovery) Machine to schools, libraries, senior centers, and other community spaces.

LEAD Guest Experience Associate (Fulltime)

The Arizona Museum of Natural History is seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Lead Guest Experience Associate to help deliver exceptional museum experiences to our community. This position follows a Wednesday–Sunday work schedule.
We’re looking for a service-oriented leader who:

  • Has strong customer service and public engagement experience
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with diverse audiences
  • Can prioritize tasks and remain calm in fast-paced situations
  • Has experience using museum management systems or similar booking and payment platforms
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Enjoys working with families, children, and community groups
  • Is willing to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and special events

NAGPRA Coordinator (temporary/fulltime)

AZMNH is looking for a 10-month 40-hour temporary employee.

Coordinates the AZMNH NAGPRA compliance program: Assumes the primary responsibility for coordinating, developing and improving AZMNH’s NAGPRA program and ensures that AZMNH is compliant with all aspects of NAGPRA. With guidance and assistance from the museum’s NAGPRA consultant, implements provisions of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act and develops a plan and/or project(s) to conduct timely and respectful consultation and repatriation of AZMNH NAGPRA collections. This role also takes the lead in communications with the NAGPRA consultant, federal, state, and municipal agencies, and tribal representatives regarding AZMNH’s NAGPRA compliance. This task requires the following elements but is not limited to:

  • Organization of the AZMNH NAGPRA eligible collections into a general project or multiple projects for repatriation.
  • Development of a protocol and timeline for the project or projects including all necessary steps outlined in the new NAGPRA regulations.
Minimum Qualifications Required. A master’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Museum Studies, Native American Studies, or a related field; extensive understanding of the NAGPRA legislation and its implementing regulations; demonstrated experience working on NAGPRA repatriations.
